I saw that earlier today Barry. Thanks for posting.
I enjoy fishing. I think it is really neat when people catch giant fish. I appreciate the concept of the hunt for sure.
I like everything about the story except for one thing. The big awesome fish is dead.
For me, it is all about the quarry, whether it be snakes or fish. I appreciate the animals for what they are.
I guess I am grateful that Phil and I were able to get some record sized snakes without killing them. If I was a real fish guy I would find some way to get the record but to also not kill the fish. Nothing beats releasing the big record breakers back to the place from whence they came. Will

I agree Will.....if anything, it may have been a popular aquarium or nature center exhibit.

I doubt if that ole hoss would have adapted to a life of confinement in an aquarium. It is a shame to see it killed needlessly. Cats that big would be aweful to eat and nearly impossible to mount. It would involve a very expensive technique that the Smithsonian uses which involves freeze drying due to oils in the flesh of Ictaluras. A better approach would have neen to take a photo for dimension referrence, weigh it and release it. From this a replica could have been constructed. Interesting story though. Thanks for the link Barry.

Phil
